Expectancy. That is my 2019 Word for the Year. What is yours? And what made you choose that Word? Expectancy for me is about being pleasantly surprised or being zealous about goodness each day. I expect a miracle. I expect to meet new people and laugh today. I expect to meet someone in need of prayer. When I pray, I expect someone to receive their healing. This expectancy though is not about feeling badly when some exact thing does not show up or an event I hope for does not happen. Or about feeling I deserve or need whatever. It is about an openness to the surprises in everyday life, to the glory of God showing up, or to finding a flower in bloom, or laughing with a child. Or crying with someone who needs to know it's okay to feel like that right then.
I don't want to expect the worst or expect people to do the wrong thing. No, I expect the best. I have faith that God is on the throne and that He will do great things and is--no matter what it looks like. I have faith, so I walk with expectancy.
1 John 1:5 This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light and there is not darkness in Him at all. NLT (New Living Translation)
